EkoConnect is working in the field of in transfer of information, knowledge, experience and techniques with special focus on connecting people working along the organic value chain. This transfer should work in both directions (from the Central and Eastern Europe to Western Europe and vice versa), and initiatives should preferably receive impulses from neighboring countries.

Therefore EkoConnect is a contact point for non-governmental organizations (for example, organic farmers  and consumer associations), producer groups, but also for state agencies that deal with organic agriculture in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. EkoConnect has the following key activities:

  • Central Information and Coordination Office: information on contacts persons, education and training programs, training materials, trends for organic farming in Central and Eastern Europe etc.
  • Promote possibilities for encounters, meetings and exchange of experiences
  • Know-how transfer: seminars and training sessions on organic farming, marketing issues, inspection and certification requirements etc.
  • Field trips to organic (demonstration) farms, processing and trade enterprises
  • Supporting private and public institutions implementing structures of organic farming
